GAD Level 3 - Year 2
This page is to showcase my work from the second year of my GAD 3D course
Signage for Design Museum
For this project we had to create furniture that was clever and had an element of surprise to it. For mine I created magnetic furniture which, if you had a steel wall installed then you could hang things on the wall
For this project we had to come up with some signage for the Design Museum exhibition. We experimented with a variety of tools and looked at signs which are already in use which we could update or simplify
Clever Furniture Design
For this project we had to create a building, interior or piece of furniture inspired by things that we had seen in Barcelona. My final piece was a tall sky scraper building inspired by the heaters that I saw outside of restaurants in Barcelona
As a trip we went to Earls Court 2, to see the 100% Design. It was a nice trip and there were lots of bits and pieces that interested me. and a few bits I could link into my research for my project, such as a company that sold magnetic wallpaper and another that sold sheet steel that was pre coloured and patterned. We looked at different textures and ideas that had been put into production. Quite a few were simple ideas that made you wonder why it hadn't been done in the past.
Me and Sam got to lay on a £5,000 bed which floated an had LED lights underneath it and in the floating shelves next to it. I also saw some cool laser etched pieces of acrylic in concrete blocks that lit up.
Design Museum Pavillion
For this project we had to design a Pavillion style structure to entice people into the exhibition and also as a meeting point
For this project we had to create a piece of lighting, a building and a sculpture inspired by Fibonacci. I created a Fibonacci lamp, a 'Hobit hole' style Eco building, which acts as a Welcome center which is shaped like a Chambered Nautilus Shell.
Final Major Project - TARDIS Console Room (Custom Design)
For this project, after starting on a futuristic survival kit, which proved a bit of a troublesome area. I decided to design my own version of a TARDIS Console. A lot of this was made using the laser cutter
