So in my spare time I like to sit and make props from Doctor Who, I first look at the concept designs and then grab screen shots from the show and then look at what I could possibly use and work out how I could make them, these are what I have made soo far;

Idiots Lantern, Magpie Electricals Portable TV
This is a project I have done at college. It Was good to be able to make something Doctor Who wise at College. Its a replica of the Magpie Electricals Portable TV. Its made from Balsa wood, so is light. These are a few pictures of it in its first few stages. It has been edited since and looks more like it. Im planing on getting some more PVA to coat it or possibly lacquer to create the Bakelite look. I took this to a Convention called 'Midnight'. Here are some pics
Ramshackle Device from 'Planet of the Dead'
This is one of my props that took a while to get right, but after purchasing a battery powered set of blue LED's I sat down and took the effort to make it properly. It has a working orange bulb and a mini dish that actually spins round!
TARDIS Crystal from 'Rise of the Cybermen'
This was a simple build, this was made using an old lightbulb and a green LED with a bottle top with a ribbed side. I Finally got round to updating it. I have remade it using perspex, and some wood. I shaped the crystal for the Dark Eyes sonic, but used it for this. I then used another part that id made for the sonic for the middle ring. I then found another little crystal that would sit at the bottom and used a knife to create a hole for a green light to sit in and then painted it up. It runs off of two little batteries and looks a lot better
TARDIS Sign Fragment from 'Cold Earth'
Looking at the TARDIS Fragment made by someone else, I decided to make one myself, rather than using wood, I made it out of cardboard and laminated the sign lettering, then burnt around the edges. This took a whole morning to get the proportions correct to my TARDIS, but I personally think it looks good.
11th Doctor's S&G Name Badge from 'Closing Time'
This prop was made as I refused to pay £6.99 or whatever stupid price it was for one from forbiddern planet. This was made using microsoft word, Paint, a piece of cardboard, some printing paper, some prit stick and a safety pin and cost me £0.00
Krayfayis Painting from 'Vincent and The Doctor'
This was made using a canvas probably 3/4 the size of the real thing and a reference picture, this took about an hour to paint, draw out and charcol on, I personally think it looks quite convincing.
Sarah Jane 'Andy Pandy' Dungarees from 'Hand of Fear'
Well for a while my mates mum, who is the best Sarah Jane Cosplayer EVER! Well she asked me if I could make her the Dungarees from 'Hand Of Fear'. She had bought the Fabric, but thought that there wouldn't be enough, but there was. It's not exact, there wasnt enough fabric for the rouched belt and ankles, but all the main features are there. She will hopefully be wearing it this weekend when we go to meet Lalla Ward It's only been hand sewn so far, so needs to pay a visit to the sewing machine to secure it properly
50th Anniversary, 10th Doctor Zygon Detector
I got around to making it. It's not 100%, as it was a bit rushed, but I think it has all the main elements.... Its some bits of wood, an ariel, a red LED battery pack, some wood, a circuit board, a clear bubbled tube, a motor, the resistor coil is from a tape player, a handle and some wire and tape. I've Now updated it and I'm Rather pleased with how it looks now
The Doctor's 'Mirror Matcher' from Vincent & The Doctor
This is the Doctor's Mirror Matcher that I have started as a project at college. I have a couple of weeks to build it and I'm going to have to spend about £40 on getting parts for it
I grabbed a few images of the original and a few off the RPF
8th Doctor, Dark Eyes Sonic Screwdriver
This is a Sonic Screwdriver I made in a day. I used the internal workings of a interchangeable sonic screwdriver. The body is made from wood and the crystal at the top is 3 pieces of acrylic glued together, shaped and polished. I'm pretty happy with it, but I think it may need to be reduced down in size slightly.
4th Doctor Era TARDIS Key
This is a key that I made at college using aluminium. I just used a referance image and drew it out on the sheet and cut it out. Im planning to possibly make the 7th Doctor's key too, the bottom key in the first picture
'Wisher' Davros Control Panel
This was a control panel I made for my friends life size Davros. It has 11 Push Switches and 5 toggle switches, along with various other bits, AKA cupboard door knobs to act as other controls
Sarah Jane Sonic Lipstick
This is a replica I made using the Screen Accurate, Estee Lauder Lipstick case, a red light, a button and 6 L4 Batteries for my friends mum who cosplays Sarah Jane.
10th & 11th Doctor Books
These are some of the books that the 10th and 11th Doctors have read. The Beano magazine and the Agatha Christie Books are the only two that are genuine books
TARDIS Siege Cube From 'Flatline'
This is a prop I made on the laser cutter. The day after the episode was aired Rubbertoe Replicas announced that they were selling them for £50 each, but I wanted to make one myself. I had to make a net for it using the image from the Rubbertoe website, but this was tricky as it was really low resolution
So I decided that I would make a Vortex manipulator out of faux leather. I did have one of the toys, but my ex, who cosplayed River ended up using it and never gave it back to me Oh well It took a day and a half to make. I'm planning to possibly replace the control pad with the one from the toy, but they're quite expensive, so I might not. It took a few attempts to make the strap. The main 'plate' of leather has a thin piece of cardboard inside, although I think I should have kept it as a thin piece of leather. I also stitched on a piece of black felt on the inside to make it comfortable to wear.
The main control panel was laser cut. I then cut out the gold section out of sheet copper. I then mounted this on a thick bit of 10mm MDF. I tried to get some poppers from fashion and textiles, but they didn't have any, so I found some small ones in my sewing kit and then glue gunned some tops of drawing pins on top. I then textured it with gold paint which i rubbed into the fabric to make it look aged. I had also rubbed the leather up against a brick wall to scuff it up. So here are the pics of the finished thing....
11th/12th Doctor Sonic (Wand Company Conversion)
This is a conversion of the Wand Company 11th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver to a replica, using both the Remote and the Character Options toy. You can see how I've done parts of it, but its not quite finished yet as it doesn't extend, Also a video of what it looks like

River Song's Diary
This is my River Song Diary. The Book itself is made from Cardboard and is painted with two layers of blue to get it to be as dark as it is. I then spent ages tea staining and Illustrating the pages. The diary is still a Work in Progress
11th Doctor's Diary
This is a Replica of The 11th Doctor's Diary, made from an old Telephone book and some cardboard. I tea-stained the pages, added pictures and wrote in the information about adventures and aliens
10th Doctor Burnt Out Sonic Screwdriver
This is the character options sonic, it went dead soon after getting my Celestial Toystore replica, I think it was jealous so I decided to burn it with a soldering iron and a lighter
11th Doctor Shark Eaten Sonic Screwdriver
This was a build inspired by another builder, it just so happened I had one of the faulty Smith Sonics and so I decided to make it get eaten by a shark! I smashed the top section apart and modified it by burning the top, cutting into the casing and painting it.

This was another simple build made using a old computer hardrive, some red tape, a clock display and circuit board from an old alram clock

'Nightmare in Silver' Cyber Controller Face Plate
This piece I made in an afternoon. Its made of sheet metal, copper plated wire and acrylic and welded together. It was then sprayed silver. I plan to put in some flashing Blue LED's to finish it off. After taking the plate to a con, I found it was too heavy, so I plan to remake it. I found this, which will come in handy....http://doctor-who-cosplay.com/2014/02/04/mr-clever-by-amanda-somsak/
Series 6, 'Jean Look' Bowtie
So looking at getting more variants of costumes for Series 6 & 7, I looked at different Bow Ties. One I struggled to look for was the Jean effect looking one. I looked all over ebay and couldnt find one. So I took the idea of jeans quite literally and made one out of an old pair of jeans. I tried to make a self tie at first, this was quite time consuming and in the end was too thick to tie up, so I made a self tie. The jeans had the right texture, but were the wrong colour, so I tired to put it in the washing machine with a new pair of jeans, hoping that the dye would run...but no such luck. So I tried to dye it with food colouring and vinegar, but still no luck, so I resorted to using a felt tip, and it actually didn't come out too bad
This is a prop that will be on going, I will be making props from the tool kit and will be keeping an eye out for a bigger tool kit to put it all in

11th Doctor's Lash Up Device
This is a prop I originally made from MDF and I wasn't too happy with it. After a tip off from a friend. I found a YouTube video of a replica and so I went out and got a Book Light from Poundland. Then I took off the clip and had to cut it off so it was flat. I then painted it brown and glued parts on top. I'm a lot happier with how it looks now
